Rev. Dr. Inetta F. Rogers is bi-vocational: She has worked in both HR and ministry without one competing against the other, creating a balance that allows her to enjoy every day of her work. Rogers, who worked over 39 years as a human resources executive stated, “I can’t recall a day I didn’t want to go to work. I faced each day with thanksgiving and integrity, believing that God was blessing the work of my hands.”
Dr. Rogers has impeccable credentials including a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts in Counseling & Guidance, Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry. Yes, she has the Professional in Human Resources (PHR), and Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP) certifications and a certificate as a Pastoral Care Specialist. Yes, she has served as a key strategic member of leadership management teams for corporate and non-profit entities. While all of this is extraordinary, she embodies even more. Dr. Rogers has a servant’s heart. While working in human resources she was willing to go above and beyond as needed by any employee. As opposed to taking a hard nose approach, Dr. Rogers is known for listening and HEARING what employees have to say, and then offering thoughtful guidance. She believes “there is no such thing as the small things” from that person applying for the temporary custodial position to the high level executive candidate. She gives each of them the same level of respect and attention.
Dr. Rogers considers her greatest accomplishment to be helping thousands of people enter the workforce for the first time or return to work after time away. She is sought out by inexperienced and seasoned employees to share her wisdom in resume writing, job interview preparation and ways to handle difficult work situations and counseling. She has been that catalyst to open doors for thousands of applicants and candidates by matching their gifts and talents to the available positions and seeing them grow. As a result of her stellar performance in human resources, she received the 2018 Memphis Business Journal Human Resources Award for nonprofit, 2019 SHRM-Memphis Human Resources Executive of the Year Award and was the human resources spotlight in the March 2019 edition of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) national magazine.
“Walk worthy of your vocation” is her mantra. While she generously supports and has been personally involved with many great organizations, including The Salvation Army, Time Warner Cable, International Paper, First Tennessee Bank, Tri-State Bank of Memphis and Memphis City Schools, it is her work as president of Memphis Inter-Denominational Fellowship that keeps the proverbial fire burning for helping others. This nonprofit organization was started by her mother Evangelist Nettie B. Roges in 1968 specifically to build spiritual and moral fiber, promote Christian and public education, eliminate crime and juvenile delinquency, reduce illiteracy, improve race relations and increase human kindness. This mission remains in place today, as Dr. Rogers now leads the organization, and the mission serves as motivation for her to continue the work of helping to open doors and improve the lives of others. She is an active member of Grace M. B. Church where she serves as an associate minister, Sunday school lead teacher and Church Orientation lead instructor.
Dr. Rogers is a humanitarian who loves the community, as evidenced by her extensive involvement and by the recognition she has received. A partial list includes Memphis Theological Seminary Board of Trustees, NAACP Golden Heritage Member, YWCA former President, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Life Member and former chapter president and currently serves on the Internationa Spirituall Oversight Committee, The Links, Inc. former chapter president, Leadership Memphis Graduate, New Memphis Intstitute Graduate, 2012 Memphis Theological Seminary Outstanding Alumni Award, 50 Women of Excellence – 2011 Tri-State Defender, 2003 South Eeastern Regional Humanitarian Award, 2002 YWCA of Greater Memphis Mertie Buckman Community Service Award, 2002 Andrew Heiskell Community Service Award – Time Warner Cable.
